Member Control
The most outstanding feature of our
Credit Union is the accountability
and ownership of the organisation
by members. Unlike banks, all members
share equally in the Credit Union.
When looking for a banking institution
that can meet your needs, it is hard
to deny the control and influence
that is exerted by members of a Credit
Union. A Credit Union is owned by
its members, it doesn’t have
to answer to a dominant group of shareholders,
and all profits go back to members
in the form of benefits like refurbished
or new branches and new services or
products.
Caring About People
Providing personalised service is
something credit unions pride themselves
in. Your Credit Union is determined
to make sure that members are more
than just a number and to steer away
from the faceless banking image.
We want to see our members in the
branch and encourage them to come
in. Members are often greeted on a
first name basis because the location
of branches in the community allows
our staff to get to know members very
well. Credit Union staff also enjoy
the opportunity to interact with members.
Community Focussed
We know our specific areas very well
and with a total of 16 locations in
the Illawarra and on University campuses,
we have a strong local base. Our members
don’t want supermarket-style
banking. Instead they like to come
into one of our branches and see us.
We cater for that by opening for longer
hours as well as on Saturdays. We
also have a very responsive call centre,
with experienced and caring staff.
The local focus of our branch network
is complemented by our 32 ATMs, which
provide members with access to their
accounts outside branch opening hours.
Socially Responsible
One characteristic which sets our
Credit Union apart is our strong dedication
to the community.
Our Credit Union is a reflection
of its members and we take our commitment
to the local community very seriously.
The result is that we are renowned
for our support of sport, education
and community events. We have a long
standing commitment to local community
activities such as surf lifesaving,
which are often overlooked by larger
national institutions. These community
oriented activities are firmly valued
by our members.
We regularly provide equipment to
surf lifesaving clubs, including rescue
boards, boogie boards and even a mini-bus.
This is part of our long term partnership
with the surf lifesaving movement
and is typical of our community involvement.

Credit Union members can be assured

interest rates on loans and deposits,
as well as quality, tailored products
comparable to those provided by the
big banks.
While our members look for a sense
of belonging and respect, we also
realise that to suit their financial
needs we need to have relevant and
competitive products as well.
We are committed to providing outstanding
service to our members, and will be
introducing a range of new products
and services over the coming months,
which will further enhance our member
service.
