So you're about to embark on a trip of a lifetime and you need to know how you can access your money... Shoalhaven Community Credit Union have a number of options which are suitable for overseas travel.

Cash Passport

Cash Passport is the latest, smartest way to travel. This card will allow you to access your funds anywhere, anytime.

Withdrawing Cash
To withdraw cash, insert your card into the cash machine and follow the instructions on the screen. You will often be able to see the instructions in the language of your choice. Enter your PIN and the amount you want to withdraw in local currency. Your cash will be dispensed in the currency of the country you are in.

So Easy To Budget
Unlike credit or debit cards, you can't overspend with Cash Passport, so there will be no surprise bills when you get home. The amount of each withdrawal is deducted instantly from the card balance. Transaction history and the current balance of the card can be found at www.cashpassportcard.com or by telephone. (The number can be found on the reverse of the card).

Additional Cards
Additional cards can be purchased to access the same account. These are useful either for a partner or travelling companion who is drawing on the same funds, or to put in the hotel safe in case the first card is lost. As each card has its own PIN, the funds can still be accessed this way, even if the first card is reported lost and is cancelled.

Reloadable
You can keep your card for your next trip, by simply loading more funds onto it. There is no limit to the number of reloads you can make. If you require a refund of the balance, you can go to a cash machine or return to the branch where you bought the Cash Passport and they will refund the balance (there may be a charge made by the branch).

Travelex Emergency Assistance
Many Cash Passport cards come with free Travelex Emergency Assistance protection. This is an emergency service available day or night, designed to make sure your trip isn't ruined by any unforeseen events. To find out if these services are available to you, check the literature that accompanied your card when you purchased it.
 

Travellers Cheques

Travellers' cheques are a safe, easy way to protect your travel money and they are universally accepted.

  • Access to your funds without actually carrying the cash
  • If lost, traveller's cheques can be replaced

Foreign Cash

No matter where you travel, you will need some local currency to pay for small things such as taxis, snacks or internet use.
